Experience the Heart of Langtang Valley with a Scenic Himalayan Adventure
Kyanjin Gompa Trek is one of Nepal’s most rewarding short Himalayan treks, leading you through the beautiful Langtang Valley to the ancient Buddhist settlement of Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m / 12,697 ft). This trek offers breathtaking mountain scenery, authentic Tamang culture, yak pastures, glaciers, and panoramic viewpoints without requiring technical climbing experience.
Located north of Kathmandu near the Tibetan border, the Langtang region is ideal for trekkers seeking fewer crowds than the Everest or Annapurna regions while still enjoying spectacular Himalayan landscapes. The trail passes through lush forests, traditional villages, suspension bridges, alpine meadows, and eventually reaches the picturesque Kyanjin Gompa surrounded by snow-capped peaks including Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), Dorje Lakpa, Yala Peak, and numerous Himalayan giants.
The highlight of the journey is hiking to Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m) or Tserko Ri (4,984 m) for unforgettable sunrise views over glaciers and towering Himalayan peaks.
Whether you’re a beginner looking for your first Himalayan trekking experience or an experienced trekker wanting a shorter adventure, the Kyanjin Gompa Trek delivers incredible natural beauty, cultural immersion, and excellent value.
Why Choose the Kyanjin Gompa Trek?
Unlike longer Himalayan treks, Kyanjin Gompa Trek can be completed within a week while offering spectacular mountain scenery. The trail is culturally rich, relatively uncrowded, and suitable for trekkers with average fitness.
Following the reconstruction of the Langtang region after the 2015 earthquake, the trekking route has become one of Nepal’s safest and most welcoming destinations with excellent tea house facilities.
